My Poly Life

Which school am I enrolled into? What course am I studying? Why am I studying?

It is 16 April 2013 and today I went for the last day of Orientation 2013. I really enjoyed the whole orientation programme and made many new friends. My Section Leader? (SL)s are very friendly and loud.
They led cheers so effortlessly and stirred up the atmosphere to a greater level of unity and excitement.
I am inspired to be a SL for the next Orientation (if pass the interview)! I guess it is both a joy to be led by others and also to lead others.

I am currently a freshmen in Republic Polytechnic (RP) and I am enrolled into RP, in the School of Engineering (SEG) and the course I am studying is Diploma in Industrial and Operations Management (DIOM).
If you are interested in knowing about DIOM, please click on the link: http://www.rp.edu.sg/Diploma_in_Industrial_And_Operations_Management_(R11).aspx

Navigate along the various labels such as About, Course Information and Course Structure to find out more specifically about this unique course. Of course, the information might overwhelm you a little at the beginning but perhaps you can slowly read through and research more through RP links attached on their page and you will understand about it soon.

I participated in the DIOM Immersion Programme on the 09/04 from 9am - 7pm and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The motivational talk by Mr. Flying Dragon was exceptionally heart-felt and inspired me to be contented being placed in this course.

"If there are student from each poly in Singapore standing in one line, there are 3 factors that make a RP student stand out from the rest.
What makes a RP graduate stand out from other poly students?
RP student is a thinker, a team-player and is a great speaker. Every day RP students are given a problem to solve and they have to think of solutions to the problem given. RP students are grouped into teams to complete assignments and each student is a key player in a team. Furthermore, RP students have to daily carry out representation in class."

RP is the only Polytechnic in S'pore that uses an unique educational approach to learning by adapting Problem Based Learning (PBL). Here is the link for a detailed explanation on PBL: http://www.rp.edu.sg/about/pbl/

I also participated in the SEG Freshmen Day Camp on 11/04 and I learnt a couple of RP cheers and SEG cheers. I am extremely proud to be a member in SEG because SEG feels like a family to me. Other schools are great, just that I personally find a connection to everyone in SEG. I am pretty amazed why I am placed in an engineering course, but I definitely did not regret my decision. I trust in God for His arrangement and I am sure that I can do very well in DIOM as ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD!  Currently I am 17, I am still young so I always remind myself that I should just be brave and go try out everything. Follow your heart and be open when people give you advice. Education is so so so important in S'pore. Without certain education qualifications, you cannot achieve the dream job you wish for. The reality in the working world is that every boss will want to employ a capable, bright worker. If you meet more realistic company boss, some wouldn't hire you if you do not have the qualifications they are looking for. Hence, I encourage youths to be focus in studying and strive to study all the way to getting into a local or maybe an oversea university. "Knowledge is power". Do not underestimate your potential, and never label yourself as a failure.  Thus I am determined to excel in every work I am assigned because the results I am aiming for will be determined by the hard work accumulated for the next 3 years. I want to visualise that I can graduate with an impressive 3.8< GPA and seeing myself smiling happily to my parents. No matter how terrible my family condition might be now, I am sure it will not affect how I perform in school.  God is faithful and when He has given you the plan, His plan will always come with His provision.

Ephesians 2:10

Amplified Bible (AMP)
10 For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), [a]recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

Colossians 3:23

New Living Translation (NLT)
23 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
