To make sure you are in your best look for this important occasion, there are several things you need to do. (In my opinion)
1) Spring Cleaning. I tell you that this is one of the highly essential tasks to be completed because you have to remove all the dust and rubbish you have collected through the past year. For your health's sake, just do it diligently. For your mom's sake, do it wholeheartedly.
2) Buy new clothes/shoes. New year means new opportunities to wear new clothes. New reasons to shop and pick the outfits for the right season and occasion. We can shop by trend, by season, by weather, most of all, by budget.
3) Pamper yourself. Go for a facial to improve your skin complexion. (Bare-face above) Go for a haircut for a refreshing look. Go for a run to get yourself in shape before visitations. Go for a manicure and pedicure or even DIY(do-it-yourself) your nails for self-contentment.
My talented cousin, Nikki, helped me put on a special bling bling coat onto my nails which I painted myself on Wednesday night. So prettyyy!

Pardon my face as I was rushing to 5th Aunt's house to help out..
#OOTN
I'm definitely happy to come home after a long tiring day. Can see my smile hor?
Ready to see what happened on first day of Chinese New Year?
5th Aunt's main door
"May you be happy and prosperous" and "Welcoming spring and receiving prosperity"
Yes, red scrolls pasted on almost household's main door during Chinese New Year period.
Singapore is currently in windy season and there are always scattered clouds or partially cloudy day for this week. Hence I choose to wear loose, yet simple clothes.
Without fail, we will always have hotpot (火锅) at my 5th Aunt's house. The legal drinking age in Singapore is 18. Thus, my uncle asked me to drink red wine. Hmm, I used to think that drinking is an intricate issue. I guess I have to slowly discover it as I grow older. Nevertheless, I still believe that adequate drinking is acceptable, BUT you should never risk your health by treating it as a form of pain release. (;
New year goodies! My aunt very style by keeping the goodies neatly in stylish boxes.

I learnt several important lessons this lunar new year. You may not have a big, long table and eat a meal with all your relatives(like the one above). But what really matters most is learning to appreciate what your relatives are blessing you with and thanking them and blessing them back with positive wishes. Although I did not successfully manage to meet all of my cousins, aunties and uncles due to their different schedules, I am sure next year we will definitely meet.
Ending this post with a smile from mama and I.
祝您马年大吉
祝你新的一年快乐幸福 , 马到成功 , 岁岁平安 !
