Sing out your passion

Hello! I decided to be very informal in this short post as I have been too formal in my speech recently. One day, Alvin(good friend) said "Why your email so formal one?" HAHA I guess I am too used to writing formal emails to Student Council teachers back then in Secondary School hence this habit followed me for quite a long while..

AQU, on 1st of May, I met Alvin at Bugis MRT and he was late for half an hour. He stays at Jurong West and he was not feeling very well hence was late.  He was so nice to carry my shoe bag when I kept snatching back but he kept insisting. Tian ah.. (oh my) So I let him carry as he is a man. So nice of me hor?
A famous saying "Male by birth BUT Man by choice!"
Alright where was I? Yes, we went to Bugis MRT and alighted. Exit B and turn left, head to Jalan Pinang to find Beat Merchant Studio for recording. I found this jamming place online and I was really happy as I managed to chip in some help for the whole thing. Alvin and I attended City Harvest Church when we are young. We decided to participate for City Radio Online's Facebook Duet Cover Contest this year for fun and to do a great cover of the worship song we both like to sing when we were young. What is song? It is Refuge written by City Harvest Church in year 2005. It holds great memories and we are reminded that God's tangible presence that we felt when we sing Refuge is the same for today and yesterday.

Back to the Beat Merchant Studio, if is your first time stepping into unknown ground and got lost, it is alright. Ren sheng di bu shou feeling I finally understood. Alvin and I walked around Jalan Pinang to Jalan Pisang twice. Pretty good leg work out for both of us. Then we finally found our way after receiving direction from the owner of BMS. If not we are trapped and lost in the paradise of Arabs in Bugis. Thank God~
Just then we met Christopher(photographer) and Evangeline, and went into the jamming studio to start filming. We spent 20 minutes fixing the light bulbs in the messy, old, torn-down  and dimly lit jamming room. Basically, it is just the dust and darkness in the room without the lights on. BMS is closing down and hence, the place was not in a good condition as I guess they did not plan to keep a good maintenance for their equipment. Long story cut short, we settled the light bulbs, chair positioning, mics positioning and song practice. Real filming begins and we are trying to bring out the best presence of God we can, the best melody, harmony and duet partnership in both of us and the showcase of Christopher's great filming skills.
Evangeline is so thoughtful in lending chords to Alvin and assisting in the looks and little details. Working with them for the first time is good and I hope to work with them in the future too. They are sweet and friendly people, of course very good to Alvin as they are his Cell Group members in KEL Zone.

My experience:
I enjoy every single part of the filming though I do get tired after taking so many takes.
I felt great as it was filming like a Music Video(MV) and I never attempted such covering songs before.

I thank God for this opportunity and thank God for the blessings and people involved in the filming and venue for filming. Do search Refuge Alvin&Angel's Cover on YouTube and you can see our cover. Or visit City Radio Online's Facebook's page to like it. Do like and share our video. All filming credits to Christopher! :)
