The Big Steps x Neon Block Party

 | THE BIG STEPS |

Left to right: Tommy (NP), Nigel (TP), Jolly (SP), myself and Keric (SP).

We met up at SMU's the Big Steps and that's how our band name is formed. Jolly discovered the connection of how the band name is so fitting because of 'EPS' and it represents 'EpSociety' or 'Emerge Poly Society'.

Our 2nd practice was held at Scape! I really like how we tried our best in working out the song structures. Jolly took the role of main vocal for the songs while I covered the harmonizing parts. Asher came down to listen to our set and it was a great session before I rushed off to Sentosa to celebrate Eunice's 20th!
Our 3rd practice held at Marina Square open area after Saturday service. We tried to finalize our song structures and settled the harmony parts for the songs. Also discussed on our outfits and concluded by playing an 'IQ Test' on Nigel! AHAHAHA

I really had a blast performing and it was such a great experience jumping up and down non-stop for hours! It was a blessing to meet and know new schoolmates in my own campus, as well as making new friends from other Polys. An unforgettable night where we all danced to the beat under the neon lights.

 | 1st Jam Session @ NP |
Monday blue didn't stop us as we met up real early at 8:45 am but Keric & I were the last few to arrive because my bus arrived late and thus miscalculated the time needed to reach on time. The bus journey was super long but Keric & I had a long chat on the bus. We hurried to takeaway MAC for breakfast and proceeded to begin our jam session!

Jolly captured a moment where Manager Chua seemed to be having lots of fun watching us as we scrambled from song to song. We sang like 10 incomplete songs AHAHA
I still feel like our hit song 'Try' is our band's gem. Despite playing it for the countless times, this song has the best familiarity and the captivating ability to resonate in our hearts, and also in our audience's hearts.

I realized we all have common songs which are grown inside our hearts over the years and that they're deeply felt when we sang them out in love and excitement. Singing those Praise & Worship songs which are featured in those older years has brought along fond memories and has helped me to recall the encounters I had in my walk with God. I am truly blessed by the songs.

Psalm 126:2 GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
Then our mouths were filled with laughter and our tongues with joyful songsThen the nations said, “The Lord has done spectacular things for them.”

I am extremely fortunate to become friends with these amazing people who shares the same passion of music with me, understands each other's needs and cannot stop chatting about random topics. Can't wait for our next meet-up!

"Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses."  Ann Landers
