I was watching The Queen's Classroom Episode 12 and 13, and each time I watched it. I always find a new perspective to different topics mentioned in the show, be it about discrimination, studying, relationship, reality of our society and how we are as human beings.
There are times where you can come up with reasons to why some or certain situation and thing happens. Sometimes we misunderstood people or things, and this makes our "answers" wrong.
"Even if your answer is wrong now, even if you're going to lose something precious to you now, you can't be scared."
We always ponder why we have to do this, have to try that, got to let go of this issue and etc. There are millions of question marks floating in our mind and which makes us go crazy.
But we need to understand that some of these questions we need to solve them ourselves, the adults cannot help us and not everyone can resolve it for you.
"There'll be a lot of times in your life when you're confused and
hesitant like now. Are you going to ask someone to help you answer your questions? Are you going to ask them to give you an answer?"
What should we bear in mind?
"Think of it yourself and make your own judgement and take responsibility
for your choice."
In Singapore, the education system for every student can vary, it may seem so difficult and stressful to many, or more intense than some other countries'. Many recognise that it is an essential need to study and send their children to school. But do parents or even their children realise the purpose or meaning behind studying?
"Studying is not something you have to do.Studying is something you get to do."
Explanation to this quote:
"When a child is just born, it will be faced with all sorts of
interesting stuff in this world. Who is this person holding me in her arms? What are those things glittering in front of my eyes?
As the child starts to learn everything one by one, the child will learn
how to say, "Mommy.", and start learning to play with toys.This process of learning and figuring out is the studying."
Some people limit studying to terms like textbooks and having examinations. On the other hand, we should also consider what is studying related to?
"Studying is not only in textbooks. Studying is also not for taking tests. Pure curiosity about the world, that every human has, the process of
resolving that curiosity is what studying is."
Hence letting you know
"So, a good college or a good job cannot be the purpose of studying.
Exams and scores also cannot be the only result of studying."
We need to remember
"You may feel obligated to study, but studying is the highest privilege only
humans are entitled to."
Sometimes we have questions for our parents or teachers...
Q: why do you always treat us so strictly?
- It's because the world like in a fairy tale does not exist.
Knowledge is Power.
No matter what difficulties you're facing in academically now, I want you to know that every one will experience failures in their entire life and you are not alone. You will be the best student in class and perform very well and achieve great, excellent academic results which brings pride to your parents and glory to God.
