Back to June's expectation, I want to pull up my socks on my vocal practises and singing, do very well in UTs and spend more time with family. Of course, build up on my spiritual and physical health.
1) In 2009, CHC had a Back-Up Vocalist audition (couldn't remember the date) and I sang The Climb by Miley Cyrus and Great is Our God by CCC. I chose The Climb as it was one of the hits in that year and so was Great is Our God. I remember that I was not nervous and purposely stood up straight and position myself as if I was singing in a choir. I guess it was a choir habit spilling out of me. I remembered Annabel Soh and Sherlyn Chia was the audition's judges. I honestly did not know Sherlyn was a professional singer and vocal coach, but obviously know Annabel is our church's Praise and Worship leader. Thinking back, I must have look gong gong(blur). Moving on, I went for several trials and sang different parts and worked with other audition people.
2) In June 2010, I was filming LAVA video and received a call from Sherlyn and I officially became a member of CHC BV Ministry. I totally never expect it. I was the youngest member in the ministry, followed by Natasha, Vevien and Alvin. Natasha and Vevien never came for any meeting, leaving me and Alvin trying to fit well into the ministry. Was it lonely? A little. I would be the only teenage secondary school student sitting in the Artist's Room, figuring how to sing my Sopranos part with my limited knowledge.
2010, my bro was interested in singing. He needed 3 people to form a group to attend vocal class from Sherlyn Chia. Link: http://sherlynxueling.blogspot.sg/ Fees were definitely costly but it was all invested well. When the whole CHC saga broke out, the trio group broke. I took classes personally secretly as I want to pursue my passion. The split up was definitely painful and it was a lonely battle. I struggled so much, practising like mad on my keyboard. Thanks Mom and Dad for sponsoring the keyboard and your support made me want to prove that I can do it.
In 2011,I've got no regrets. I officially gotten my Distinction in Popular Singing Grade 2. Thinking back, I want to thank you Teacher Sherlyn for investing time in me and teaching me. I am probably her worst student who made her really angry and gotten scolded "blur" and if you're reading it, I am so embarrassed. *red face* Ever since the travelling to Bukit Gombak and Punggol for vocal lesson for 2 years, I stopped. No money and Dad's debt is rolling. Parents often in cold wars and fights, and O levels is a reality.
Now is 2013, I am a member of RP Rhapsody. What should I do? What am I aiming for?
Rhapsody is a A Cappella singing group in RP and I sang Jayesslee - Failure in Disguise for my audition song. It was a song that fully explains my feelings when I felt I was struggling to make a decision to stay in RP Female Floor ball or RP Rhapsody. Even though the floor ball was great but I did not want to waste my singing experience that I build up since 13. Honestly I did not feel very welcome in Rhapsody (being the only SEG student) but I am gonna make a good learning point there. I want to be courageous and conquer my fears.
I am still waiting for CHC Choir ministry's helper to get back to me. Annabel is so sweet to me by arranging me to join, despite the fact she thought I should have join earlier. But due to family problems, devotions and studies, I could not devote my time to serve. Hence this year is the right time to join. I bumped into Annabel every single week at the washroom. Pretty freaking but it is true! Hoping to join in soon! :)
